GUIDED TOUR OF THE LAGOON
The city of La Laguna is the episcopal see, university seat and only Canarian city declared a World Heritage Site. Its streets are full of history, its stately mansions tell us of a time when La Laguna was the capital of Tenerife.
This guided tour of La Laguna takes place on foot from the central Plaza del Adelantado (parking is available nearby). During 90 minutes we will visit the most emblematic points of the old town with a review of the most important events that occurred in each place.
A visit to the interior of the Cathedral of La Laguna is a must. Dedicated to the patron saint of Tenerife, the Virgin of Los Remedios, the cathedral is one of the symbols of the city. On the same site, construction began in the 16th century on a small hermitage that later became the parish of Santa María de los Remedios.
The walking route will continue discovering other important monuments such as the Teatro Leal or the Tuscan-style bell tower of the church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción. Its tower dates from the seventeenth century and reaches 27 meters in height, becoming another of the landmarks of La Laguna.
Casa Salazar, Plaza del Cristo and the Municipal Market of La Laguna will be the next stops. In the latter we will have time to admire the best of the island’s handicrafts and gastronomy Join and enjoy one of the best cities to visit in Tenerife.
In San Cristobal de La Laguna it can be difficult to find parking.. Next to the meeting point there is a paid parking lot. It is recommended to go in advance. Location here.
It is advisable to wear warm clothes: Do not be confident! San Cristobal de La Laguna is a city with a cold climate (especially in winter), although in the rest of the island it is warm come with some warm clothes.
