ANAGA HIKING TOUR
The Anaga massif is one of the oldest areas on the island of Tenerife. It has been declared a Biosphere Reserve due to the fact that it´s one of those places where it is possible to reconcile the conservation of biological and cultural diversity with economic and social development. Anaga is home to the best representation of the laurel forest that can be seen on the island.
We are talking about a relict forest from the tertiary period in which laurels, yews, holly trees, barbuzanos, lime trees and Canary willows abound among other local species.
This Anaga hiking tour starts from the Cruz del Carmen Visitors Center and for 2.5 hours covers representative trails of the surroundings. During our walk the guide will provide information not only about the plant species present but also about Canarian customs and local history.
If you prefer an activity that combines hiking at Teide National Park at sunset combined with Stargazing, we recommend you check availability here.
This Anaga hiking tour is of a low difficulty and suitable for everyone (except people with reduced mobility) but you must always keep in mind that there are sections with a certain unevenness that makes it easier to slip and fall on your butt if you do not wear the right footwear.
During the tour there will be stops to give explanations and interpret the environment
The Anaga hiking tour is circular itinerary and what we will do is the following: Cruz del Carmen – Hija Cambada – Mirador de Zapata – Las Hiedras – Cruz del Carmen.
Maximum punctuality is requested. In the event that someone arrives late, a maximum courtesy time of 10 minutes will be expected (as long as we are notified of the delay).
This activity needs a minimum of 4 participants. If this number is not reached, we will contact you to offer you different alternatives.
Public transport to the meeting point is scarce. If you are going to go by bus, check the schedules carefully and plan the route accordingly.
The Anaga massif is one of the most humid areas of Tenerife, so it is recommended to wear a coat and a raincoat, as well as suitable footwear for this Anaga hiking tour.
Attending with the appropriate clothing is VERY IMPORTANT. For safety reasons, we cannot allow anyone who does not wear sports shoes to participate on our Anaga hiking tour.
It is also important to bring enough water and some food..
The Bosque de los Enigmas trail does not enter any of the 3 Integral Reserve zones located within the Anaga Rural Park, in which activities of this type are not allowed. Therefore, it is not necessary to request permits for our tour.
